Recently, the Geological Society of China issued a notice entitled “Announcement on the Publication of the Geological Society of China’s 2021 Outstanding Undergraduate Graduation Design in Geological Engineering”. Professor Zhang Wen from the College of Construction Engineering served as the supervisor, while Professor Ma Dong from the Northeast Survey and Design Research Institute of China Water and Power Group served as the cooperative supervisor. They jointly supervised Han Jiali, an undergraduate student majoring in Geological Engineering from the College of Construction Engineering, in completing the undergraduate thesis entitled “Study on Equivalent Mechanical Parameters and Protection Design of Dam Foundation Rock Mass in Datengxia Hydropower Station”. This undergraduate thesis won the Outstanding Undergraduate Graduation Design Award in Geological Engineering from the Geological Society of China in 2021. A total of 16 outstanding undergraduate graduation designs were selected nationwide.

Since 2019, the Geological Society of China has been promoting innovative engineering education concepts, inspiring guidance teachers and students majoring in geological engineering to actively participate in the graduation design process, effectively improving the teaching and graduation design quality of geological engineering education, promoting the high-quality development of engineering education professional certification, and carrying out the selection of outstanding undergraduate graduation designs in geological engineering. In total, 5 undergraduate graduation designs from the College of Construction Engineering majoring in Geological Engineering were awarded as outstanding undergraduate graduation designs.

The Geological Engineering major at the College of Construction Engineering has passed the Chinese Engineering Education Accreditation twice, in 2017 and 2020, and was recognized as one of the first national-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites in 2019. The major adheres to the fundamental task of moral education and student development and consistently follows the three core concepts of “student-centeredness, output-orientedness, and continuous improvement” in guiding undergraduate education through engineering education professional certification. It comprehensively enhances the quality of talent cultivation and promotes the development of geological resources and geological engineering disciplines.
